this.placed

3/2/2012 - 3/4/2012, 8:00 pm to 3:00 am

this.placed is an integrated evening of dances by Nina Haft & Company and Facing East Dance & Music, inspired by what the body remembers. Haft’s choreography is based on the writings of author Britta Austin, whose flash fiction gives voice to a magical realism of the body, swerving delightfully and unpredictably between tales of women, men, monsters and apparitions. Sue Li Jue’s choreography (FEDM) is inspired by stories of people finding comfort far from home, including orphan girls from China and immigrant sweatshop workers. Li Jue’s work runs the gamut between disturbing and uplifting but is always driven by human connection—exposing feelings that we never acknowledge but that our bodies remember.
