Projection Artist

Thomas Wong, projection artist, has been doing experimental video projects in the Bay Area for the past 5 years. His collaborations have included work with organizations such as Eastside Arts Alliance, Beats, Flows and Videos Program, Youth Employment Partnership, Asian & Pacific Islanders For Community Empowerment, Facing East Dance & Music, and the Association of Hawaiian Arts. Most recently, Thomas has been working with various Oakland youth arts and activist groups to integrate experimental video projections into their live spoken word and street theater performances. Thomas is also creating a multimedia resource network for the aforementioned local arts/activist organizations to help them better communicate and collaborate with each other.

Thomas Wong is the Assistant Director of Technology at St. Paul’s School in Oakland. His responsibilities include creating and teaching a technology integration curriculum to grades k-8, as well as designing and maintaining the school/administrative networks and databases. His teaching methodology is rooted in an arts-based, constructivist approach, and incorporates audio, video and still image manipulation. His last multimedia project was an online collaborative art and learning environment called Starbright World. It currently is used in over 90 children’s hospitals in the US and Canada, and was recently inducted into the permanent digital collections of both the Smithsonian Institute and the American Museum of History.
