Richard Jue

Richard Jue is an Oakland oil painter, sculptor, photographer, and set designer for Facing East Dance & Music, an Asian American modern dance company. He has shown work throughout the Bay area including the Oakland Museum café, Mayor Jerry Brown’s loft space, Artship and Jack London Square. His set design for Facing East’s production, Rice Women, was nominated for Outstanding Set Design for both 1999-2000 and 2000-2001 Isadora Duncan Dance awards, while other accomplishments include his nationally published dance photography in Dance magazine and a painting published in Artweek magazine. His latest honor was to be selected into the Pro Arts 2003 juried annual exhibition which ran for several months in the Pro Arts Gallery in downtown Oakland. His continued interest and development in the fine arts prompted his founding of the Underhill Artist’s Collective, a group of dedicated creatives who show work together in a mutually shared environment of dialogue, resources and personal growth.
